Your Weekly Guide to the Marlborough Farmers’ Market…

Here’s a quick preview to what is on offer this week at the Marlborough Farmers’ Market!

Let’s hope we are in for another fine weekend this Sunday, as it’s Marlborough Cup Day – part of the Peter Yealands Wines Weekend of Racing held at Waterlea Raceway from 11:45am.  So head along for an exciting day of thoroughbred and harness racing on the track with your friends, workmates or the family!

Pre races:  Why not stop by the Marlborough Farmers’ Market and enjoy a nice outdoor breakfast or brunch, we have a good selection of hot and cold food available at Gourmet Deli, Feast Merchants and Pedro Empanadas.   Alternatively, how about taking a picnic lunch with you to the races, lots of tasty treats can be purchased at the market: bread, cheeses, nut products, fresh fruit and salad options, honey, olives and a whole lot more!

See you this Sunday from 9am – 12pm at the Marlborough Farmers’ Market!

***Mississippi Herbs***

Mississippi Herbs had a great day last Sunday, with supplies of bread and other baked goods just holding out until midday! Annette will not be coming along this weekend so there will be no sourdough or giant crackers. There will be more gluten-free bread as it was so popular; expect feijoas to feature in the baked goods – it is a season of giant feijoas for some reason – and all the other MH favourites will be there. Shishito peppers (not hot) and ripe red padrons (expect heat!) will also be available.



***Gourmet Deli***

Sunday Special: Fresh Figs: on Sunday Margaret will be selling figs wrapped in prosciutto stuffed with cranky goat cheese topped with basil pesto and balsamic vinegar. What about figs filled with blue cheese, drizzled with honey and scattered walnuts on top, sound delicious!





***Pedro Empanadas***

Pedro will be back at the market this Sunday with his gourmet empanadas, with plenty of flavour options available: cheese, meat, seafood and  vegetarian.  You can purchase them to eat right away as you stroll round the market or  how about taking some home to pop in the freezer or to cook up later on!




Great News, NuggetyCreek Farm have been able to process Pork this week and Melvyn will have a fresh supply of Ethically Farmed Pork Cuts at the MFM this coming Sunday. Also Coarse Cut Pork and Sage Sausage / Dry Cured Bacon / Pork Salami / Liver and Bacon Pate’.  See you there.!



***Demo Kitchen this Sunday***

Come on down to the Marlborough Farmers’ market this week between 10:30am-11:00am and join us at the Demo Kitchen.

For those of you who enjoyed Roger Raizada’s cooking demo last week when he made tasty Halva Cake, well have we a treat for you…. Roger is back for a second week with more exciting culinary delights: CURRIES – he will be cooking Indian curries using his One For All Spice Mix …Mother of all curries. Learn all about what makes a good curry and other helpful tips.
